Medical Literature Lies

C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Richard Horton, the current editor-in-chief of the Lancet – the oldest and one of the most respected medical journals recently stated:

“The case against science is straightforward: much of the

scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. ”

The Lancet
Vol 385 April 11, 2015, p. 1380

He cited:

  • small sample size
  • tiny effects
  • invalid exploratory analyses
  • flagrant conflicts of interest
  • obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance

He concluded “science has taken a turn towards darkness.”
